Go Launcher Z was formerly named Go Launcher EX. Consider this a sequel but just maintained in the same app hierarchy rather than with a new one. The focus here is still on home screen customization, but it now has a flatter, more modern base look. The base aesthetic is just that: a foundation. There are more than 10,000 themes to choose from and seemingly new themes added every day.
The theme collection has something for everyone: sports, anime, video games, movies, nature, celebrities, so on and so forth. These themes give you options to change wallpaper, icons and more. Go Launcher Z also provides some core functionality that all themes inherent, such as the ability to open apps with particular gestures that you assign to them.
Go Launcher Z also supports widgets, and each theme has a default widget layout, which you can customize. Common widgets include weather, clock, calendar and battery monitor, but there are hundreds perhaps thousands to choose from. This setup process is a bit on the cumbersome side, but we don’t list that as a con because these apps are geared toward tinkerers.
One aspect that is a con is potential performance issues that arise with certain widget choices. This may require some trial and error, which we didn’t enjoy. It’s also worth noting that the widget recommendations are profit-motivated and often not the most popular or functional options.

User-friendliness is the flagpole under which the GO Launcher EX interface establishes its style credentials. Designed to make phone accessibility a fun experience, this interface replacement delivers the goods on all fronts. First of all, the default "looks" of the old interface are replaced with a simpler and faster GUI. Performance is the next noticeable change, for everything is faster and smoother. Screens load faster, Apps start in the blink of an eye, and interface stutter is gone.
Intuitive interactions guide user fingers. Page flip effects accommodate each action, and everything is alive with bright colors. Don't worry, these hues can be dialed down thanks to the incorporated personalization menu, a series of settings that enables the Android phone owner to quickly switch themes. That latter feature is targeted at whole system customization, but finer changes can be accessed. The finer adjustments are there to alter icons and animations, wallpapers and widgets, which is wonderful, but there were some annoying ads to contend with here. The customization rating attached to GO Launcher EX is blunted somewhat by these annoying commercials.
GO Launcher EX is fast, easy to use, and highly configurable. Without a doubt, it's one of the best home screen replacement applications out there, but its intuitive layout does suffer from advertisement popup syndrome. GO Launcher EX also has a habit of taking over the entire operating system, but that drawback, depending on the user, can be regarded as a minor inconvenience.
